Transparent lettering, brand logos and viewing windows are created directly within the glassine paper. The remaining areas retain their original appearance.

Suitably equipped converters can implement these designs using SiOPack®technology in appropriate industrial printing and finishing processes.

The technology is based on targeted SiO₂ functionalisation within the paper’s fibre matrix.
With minimal material input, the optical properties of glassine paper are modified locally, without adding a transparent plastic film.
The essential properties of the base paper can largely remain. In particular, the treated paper retains its ability to absorb water.

A patent application has been filed for the SiOPack®technology that creates targeted transparency within paper-based materials. Applications for design protection have also been filed for selected packaging designs.
Industrial processing has already been demonstrated using flexographic printing.
