For the first time: round cans with parchment paper viewing windows – as transparent as plastic, yet 100% recyclable in the paper stream.

The premiere at FACHPACK 2025

At this year’s FACHPACK, together with our partner Optima, we presented a true innovation:
👉 the first retail cans with viewing windows made of parchment paper – equipped with Glassine by SiOPack®.

The response to this innovation was overwhelming: round cans that allow the product to be seen, but remain fully recyclable in the paper stream. This makes parchment paper a serious alternative to plastic in transparent packaging.

Our premiere at FACHPACK was not only met with enthusiasm by visitors – it also received international recognition.

👉 Glassine by SiOPack® will be presented with the prestigious Green Apple Environment Award on 17 November 2025 at the House of Lords in London.
👉 The technology has already received the Green Brand Award – another strong signal that SiOPack® is setting new standards in sustainable packaging solutions.

This officially confirms what we are experiencing in the market: Our solution combines sustainability, innovation and practical usability – and is redefining packaging standards.

Why this innovation matters

• ✅ ⚙️ No extra effort in processing – the barrier can be applied afterwards by flexographic printing
• ✅ 📑 Versatile – suitable for different grammages, already tested in pilot series

Particularly strong interest was shown in our plastic-free drinking cups 🥤 – a topic that will gain even more relevance in several European markets from 2026 due to regulatory requirements.

Next development stage: The All-in-One Barrier

And this is just the beginning. 🚀

We are already working on the “All-in-One barrier“::

• • integrating an oxygen barrier into parchment paper
• • significantly increasing transparency at the same time,
• • opening up new opportunities for product protection, shelf life and visibility.

Brand owners and leading discounters have made it clear: this is exactly the solution neededto package private labels more sustainably, more visibly and with greater protection.

The special feature: the barrier can also be applied via flexographic printing.. Converters can therefore upgrade parchment papers themselves – independently of the paper mill.
👉 This creates a unique combination of transparency + oxygen barrier - something that conventional parchment papers have not been able to offer until now.
